The house, a French Renaissance-style structure designed and built by Edward G. Reed in 1938 was the home of Mary Roddenbery and Worth Upchurch.
Mrs. Upchurch lived at the house almost 50 years before selling it to Peggy and Scott Rich in 1985. With the help of William Frank McCall Jr., the Riches remodeled and added a walled pool and wisteria arbor.
After a fire in 2002, Stanley F. Smith was commissioned for a major renovation. Features of the home include original pecky cypress ceilings, a hunting/gun room and arched windows and doorways, and there are many family photos and antiques passed down to Mrs. Rich from her Flowers ancestors.
The tea is from 3 to 6 p.m., with proceeds going to projects, scholarships and awards funded by the DAR.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.
