THOMASVILLE — CNS Television has begun a digital migration project that will transition all of its analog television signals to digital signals.

By transitioning from analog to digital, CNS is freeing up a large portion of its network, which will provide the opportunity to expand and enhance services.

“Freeing up these resources in our cable plant is critical to our growth and future service offerings,” said Director of Marketing Sheryl Sealy. “The benefit for our current customers is that they will now be able to enjoy all of their favorite local, broadcast and cable channels with digital quality picture and sound.”

Customers with the Super Basic television package or greater, whose televisions are not connected to a CNS Digital Box will need special equipment called a Digital Transport Adapter.

“Without a digital box or a DTA, CNS customers will not be able to watch any channels above the Broadcast Basic package once the analog signal is discontinued,” said Sealy.

The transition to an all-digital system should be complete by July 2015.

“We are encouraging our customers to go ahead and obtain their DTAs now so that they can be assured of no disruption in their services,” she added.

CNS is offering customers up to two DTAs at no charge for a limited time.

“We want all CNS customers who have a Super Basic package or higher to stop by Customer Care to pick up their DTAs,” she said. “Televisions already connected to a CNS Digital Box will not need any additional equipment. Customers with only the Broadcast Basic package will not be impacted as the Broadcast Basic television package will remain available as an analog signal.”

“These customers will not need any additional equipment,” Sealy noted.

A special Web page has been created, www.cns-internet.com/DigitalMigration, to provide CNS Television subscribers with additional information on the digital migration process, including DTA installation videos and other resources. A Television Programming Survey is also available online at cns-internet.com.

“We’d like to encourage all CNS customers to either pick up a survey in our office or print one off our website to complete,” said Sealy. “As we look toward the future and evaluate changes and/or additions to our channel lineup, we will rely heavily on the feedback we receive from our subscribers through this survey.”

Surveys will be accepted through Dec. 12, 2014. As a special thank you for participating in the survey, CNS Television subscribers who complete the channel lineup survey will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a free, 32-inch, flat-screen TV. The winner will be selected on Dec. 12.
