ACTU to present ‘Songs of Love’

THOMASVILLE — Arts for the Community at Thomas University (ACTU) will present “Chant d’Amour: Songs of Love” featuring tenor Chris Hendley and pianist Cam Bishop on Friday as part of the Friday at Noon series in the chapel of the Thomasville First United Methodist Church, 425 N. Broad St.

Chris Hendley is an assistant professor in the Department of Fine Arts at Albany State University where he serves as coordinator of the Music Education program. Hendley earned a Ph.D. in Music from the University of Georgia. He is a professional singer/actor with numerous stage credits, and he was recently involved with a production of “The Fantasticks,” which he directed and held the lead role of El Gallo.

Cam Bishop is the Director of Music and Organist at Mulberry United Methodist Church in Macon, Georgia. She is a frequent accompanist on organ and piano and has served as Music Director for several productions with Theatre Macon.

Friday’s program will include arts songs by Caccini, Liszt, selections from Schumann’s “Dichterliebe” as well as more popular selections by Richard Rogers and Cole Porter.
