THOMASVILLE — A Thomasville City School System middle school principal reassigned during the first weeks of the current school year was charged Tuesday with not properly reporting incidents that took place at the school.

Keith Hose was charged with two counts of not reporting an allegation of marijuana possession and an incident of a sexual nature at MacIntyre Park Middle School (MPMS), said Toby Knifer, Thomasville Police Department detective.

Hose turned himself in to police midday Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a number of people addressed the city board of education at a 5 p.m. Tuesday meeting about the Hose reassignment and their dissatisfaction with the move.

Ishia Dawson, MPMS assistant principal, was reassigned and charged in early October with failure to properly report a school incident.

Hose has been reassigned to the Facilities & Operations Department and Dawson to the Special Education Department.

Hose is mandated to report certain incidents to law enforcement, Knifer explained.

An ongoing investigation uncovered the two incidents in the Hose offenses, which are different from the Dawson charge.

When the incidents were reported to Hose, he should have notified law enforcement, the detective said.

“He did not do that,” Knifer said, adding that teachers properly reported the incidents to Hose.

The incidents took place in September.

“I don’t see anybody else being charged in this,” Knifer told the Times-Enterprise Tuesday.

The detective telephoned Hose Tuesday morning and told him he had two warrants for his arrest. Hose turned himself in.

The charges are misdemeanors.

Parents and others who addressed the school board at the Tuesday meeting spoke highly of Hose, who was in his second year as MPMS principal.
