THOMASVILLE — A burglar alarm sounded, police found an open window and old Balfour school was cleared of tenants.

Nothing appeared to be missing, but police lifted a number of fingerprints from the open window.

The fingerprints belong to Walter Caldwell Jr., 38, 115 Cherry St., said Scott Newberry, Thomasville Police Department detective.

“It appears the alarm scared him off,” Newberry said.

Caldwell is charged with burglary.
