James “Jimmy” Franklin Majors
Graveside services for James Franklin Majors (Jimmy), 50, of Thomasville, will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2014, on 17th Street in Laurel Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Merrill Coram will officiate. Mr. Majors passed away Monday, May 26, at Archbold Hospital. Jimmy was born January 26, 1964 in Thomas County. He was the son of the late George Donald Majors and Naomi Majors Cox who survives. He is also survived by his brothers, Kenneth Majors and wife Jackie, Danny Majors and wife Alison, and Ricky Majors; sister, Mary Beth Coram and husband Tim; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Jimmy will be greatly missed by all. He was preceded in death by sisters, Melinda Majors Hurst and Joanne Gerald. Ellen Floore Eichorn
Ellen Floore Eichorn, 59, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 22, 2014, after a four-year valiant battle with cancer. Born on Dec. 29, 1954, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Edgar and Frances Floore, she graduated from Stuart Hall School in 1973 and attended Hollins College, graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts. On May 19, 1990, she married Paul Joseph Eichorn. Together, they have happily raised four sons. Ellen lived in Richmond, Va., and began her career in Photography Retouching and Reclamation with Caston Photography Studios. She and her family moved to Tallahassee, Fla., where she continued her career as a Fundraising Coordinator. Stemming from her love of animals and event planning, she worked for the Tallahassee Museum and later the St. Francis Wildlife Association, coordinating events such as Tallahassee Museum Fall Farm Days and the Annual Jazz and Blues Festival. She later worked for Kids Incorporated of the Big Bend, coordinating events such as the Night of Champions and Kids Fest. Ellen was a 30-year member of the Junior League in Richmond and Tallahassee. During her membership, she served as the chair and co-chair for charitable events such as Bizarre Bazaar, Whale of a Sale and Merry Market. A lover of the performing arts, Ellen also served as a member on the Board of Directors for the Southern Shakespeare Festival for multiple years. Ellen was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Hargis Floore, and father, Edgar Lawrence Floore. She is survived by her husband, Paul Joseph Eichorn; her brother, Stephen Lawrence Floore of Cairo, (Diane); her son, James Duke Elliott III of Tallahassee (daughter-in-law, Shiloh); son, Bryce Childress Elliott of Cincinatti, Ohio (daughter-in-law, Carrie); son, Lansden Bohmert Eichorn of Tallahassee; and son, Alexander Lawrence Eichorn of Tallahassee. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Robert Eichorn of San Antonio, Texas, Charles Eichorn of Powhatan, Va., (Diane); and sister-in-law, Catherine Curtis of Richmond (Tony “Dale”). Her extended family members include her nephews, John Floore, David Floore, Spencer Curtis (Erin), Michael Curtis (Crissy) and Paul Eichorn (Nicole); and nieces, Kristen Shapovalov(Alex), Laura Eichorn, and Lisl Eichorn. A visitation will be held at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park Chapel, 700 Timberlane Rd., from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 29. A celebration of life is at 11 a.m., Friday May 30, at Faith Presbyterian Church, 2200 North Meridian Rd. Interment will take place at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park. Lawton Albert Hickox
Services for Lawton Albert Hickox, 85, of Cairo, are at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Gatlin Creek Baptist Church, Thomasville. The Rev. Mitch Conner will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Interment is in Ochlocknee City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Corey Hickox, Michael Hickox, Cody Hickox, Giovanni Raker, Ryan Hickox and Ernesto Raker. Mr. Hickox passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital, Thomasville, on Tuesday, May 27. Born Nov. 22, 1928, in Hoboken, Ga., he was the son of the late Jesse Hickox and Ethel Dowling Hickox. Lawton, like so many men of his generation left home at an early age to support his family. Meeting the love of his life, Nona Lee Carpenter Hickox in Lakeland, Fla., they married on March 6, 1948, and moved to Georgia to begin their lives together. He served his country in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. After being discharged from the service, he began working for CSX Railroad in signal maintenance, and he retired in 1989 with 50 years of service. He was an avid gardener and took great pride in an immaculate lawn. As a founding member of Gatlin Creek Baptist Church in Thomasville, he was a devout Christian and devoted Deacon in his church. Survivors include wife, Nona Lee Hickox of Cairo; sons, Lance Alan Hickox (Pam) of Parrish, Fla., Jeff Hickox (Marsha) of Poulan; daughter, Karen Raker (Rev. John Raker) of Cairo; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Russell Hickox of Atkins; and a sister, Myrtice Hickox (Landell) of New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gillis Hickox, Fred Hickox; sisters, Clara Russell, Effie Griffin and Inez Stokes. Memorials may be made in Mr. Hickox’s memory to Gatlin Creek Baptist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 5815, Thomasville, Ga. 31758. Enoch Little
Services for Enoch Little of Torrington, Conn. and formerly of Whigham, are at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Weston’s Funeral Home Chapel. Bishop Ruben Addison will officiate . Barbara Randall Powell
Graveside services for Barbara Randall Powell, 59, of Pelham, are at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Ochlocknee City Cemetery with the Rev. Arnold Buckner officiating. Mrs. Powell passed away on Saturday, May 24, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville. Born on July 11, 1954, in Anniston, Ala., to Margarette George Randall Ralyea and the late Vernice Randall, she was a nursing assistant and was Pentecostal by faith. She is survived by her children, Angela Anderson and husband, Lance, of Pelham, James White and wife, Zandra, of Meigs; grandchildren, Kala S. Anderson, Harley A. Hudson, Brittany A. Anderson, Anthony Tyler White, Triston B. White; mother, Margarette George Randall Ralyea; sisters, Debbie Bennett and husband, Ken, of Riverview, Fla., Tobi Hicks and husband, Wyndell, of Panama City, Fla.; brother, Mike Randall and wife, Lori, of Anniston, Ala. She was preceded in death by her father, Vernice Randall; and brother, Dennis Randall.
