A memorial service for Arthur Mobley Nolen, 94, of Pavo, will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Pavo United Methodist Church. The Rev. James Davis and Bob Slade will officiate. Mr. Nolen passed away May 17, 2014, at Golden Living Center. He served in World War II in the infantry, where he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Born Oct.17, 1919, in Pavo, he was a son to the late Herbert Isaac and Ossie Lanier Nolen. He was married to Myrtle Shivers Nolen, who survives. Other survivors include daughter, Mimi Parrish, of Pavo; grandchildren, Nolen Parrish and wife, Nicole, Blake Parrish; sisters, Helen Griffin, of Virginia, and Vivian Farquahar, of Texas. He was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Suber and husband, Tom, and Mrytice McGraw and husband, Gene; brother, Cabot Nolen and wife, Jeanette; brothers-in-law, Bob Griffin and Wesley Farguahar.
