The YMCA’s 7th Annual Team Lean weight-loss challenge concluded Thursday as final results were announced at the Thomasville Center for the Arts.
The big winners were the Juice Caboose, which lost more than 20 percent body weight as a team and took home the top cash prize of $1,700. Team members were Mark NeSmith, Terry Hurst, Brian Barnard, Tony Herring and Brad Hinson.
The top female winner was Christina Blanton of Belly Bailout. She took home a cash prize of $500 for her 26 percent weight loss.
Blanton also claimed the title of “Overall Biggest Loser,” the first time a female has won that honor. Greg Bass of the team Flabuless was the top male winner and took home a $500 cash prize for his 23 percent weight loss.
A new wrinkle to the program was added this year. Free health screenings, sponsored by Archbold Memorial Hospital, were offered at the first and last weigh-ins.
The male and female Team Leaners with the largest drop in their cholesterol were awarded a $500 cash prize. Winners of the health screening awards were Cheryl Williford and Don McMillan.
Team Lean is a 10-week program sponsored by the Thomasville YMCA, Archbold Memorial Hospital, Barberitos, Nature’s Own, Chick-fil-A and the Thomasville Times-Enterprise. Total pounds lost during Team Lean was 9,513.
Cash prizes totaling more than $17,000 were awarded to the top teams and individuals based on percentage of weight lost.
