Pavo Haunted House opens Friday

For those looking to be scared this Halloween season, look no further than Pavo.

The annual Pavo Haunted House is ready to stir up a few frights. On Friday and Saturday of this week and next week  at 7:30 p.m., older children and adults can get the ultimate Halloween scare they have been craving. The house is located at the old Pavo school off Hwy 122, West McDonald St.

On Oct. 26 at 5 p.m., the annual Pavo Fall Festival will be held. The haunted house will operate as usual after the festivities. Entertainment will be provided by “DJs to Go” and pony rides, bouncy houses, a Halloween Contest, BBQ ribs and chicken, hamburgers, chili dogs, Frito pies, nachos and cheese, baked goods, games, a cake walk and more. will be available All ages are welcome.

In 2003, the Pavo Haunted House was created by Sallie Ann Burgess in the front office of where she worked in downtown Pavo. The first one consisted of one room, a strobe and her husband with a mask and chainsaw.

By the second year, a couple of more rooms were added and it began attracting more guests. The haunted house of Pavo grew much larger when Burgess was approached by the city to build a Pavo Fall Festival around the haunted house.

Her partner, Ken Lasseter, asked to lend a helping hand in 2008.

“Without Ken, we would be at a great disadvantage. He is a bonified boogey man and a huge asset,” said Burgess.
