Misty Cox was intercepted at the facility that treats inmates.

The wife of a pharmacist arrested two weeks ago was charged Tuesday with taking contraband beyond a guardline.

Misty Dixon Cox, 34, 2474 Peebles Still Road, Whigham, was arrested about 4 p.m. Tuesday at a Smith Avenue facility that treats inmates.

“We got evidence she brought tobacco and coffee to the jail without permission yesterday to be given to her husband, Jeffery Cox,” said Kevin Lee, Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division.

The tobacco and coffee were concealed in a trash can outside the jail near the intake area, Lee said.

On Tuesday, law enforcement received information that Cox was to bring orthopedic socks, candy, protein bars and possibly razors.

Cox was intercepted at the facility that treats inmates.

“We approached her. She had the aforementioned items in her vehicle, and she was taken into custody,” Lee said.
