Former employee charged in robbery of local business

A former employee at a Thomasville seafood market is charged with snatching two bags of money from someone at the business.

A citizen apprehended the suspect and retrieved the money.

About 6:20 p.m. Friday, a man who works at Harper’s Seafood Market, 526 W. Jackson St., told police he was closing the business and as he attempted to lock the front door, he was approached by a former employee.

The victim was pushed against a newspaper rack in front of the business, and two money bags were snatched from him by Terrence Golden Jr., 23, 232B Royal Ave., said Lt. Eric Hampton, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.

Golden ran, pursued by the victim and a citizen who was washing his vehicle at a car wash next door to the seafood market.

The citizen subdued Golden in a wooded area off Campbell Street.
