The shake-and-bake method of manufacturing methamphetamine is quick and easy, but labor-intensive.

The method does not produce large yields, resulting in a need for more and more purchases of key ingredient ephedrine and manufacturing more often.

A common practice is being seen by narcotics agents: Meth manufacturers buy ephedrine for themselves or for another manufacturer in exchange for money or the drug.

Valdosta and Thomasville men are charged in a case in which many ephedrine pills, among other items, were found in the vehicle in which they were traveling.
