Southwest Georgia Technical College is offering sewing classes.

Do you want to learn to sew with little or no sewing experience? Southwest Georgia Technical College (SWGTC) will offer “Sewing with Niler,” a beginner’s sewing class to be taught by Niler Taylor.

Taylor, who owns local business Niler’s Fashions, has over 22 years of sewing experience and a vast number of sewing projects she will use to educate students. Students will bring a sewing machine to class and Taylor will take them step-by-step as they learn to thread the machine, read a pattern, and more importantly, how to sew. Upon completion, students will have gained basic sewing machine knowledge as well as the ability to construct a garment.

“Sewing is a lost art and I look forward to helping those who have no experience or those who would like to rekindle their love of sewing. This class is going to be an exciting, hands-on experience where attendees will create a garment from start to finish,” commented Niler Taylor.

The class will be offered Oct. 31 through Nov. 2 or Nov. 1 through Nov. 3 and will cost $75, plus materials. For more information or to register contact Ruby Barron at (229) 227-2579.

Southwest Georgia Technical College’s Economic Development department offers a variety of continuing education courses that include computer training, health and safety training, professional development, customized training, and personal enrichment.

A wide range of short courses, workshops, and seminars are also available for professional development. However, Southwest Georgia Technical College will develop courses and workshops based upon local needs and requirements.
