Services for Geraldine Farrar Thacker, of Barwick, are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at Barwick Baptist Church, with the Rev. Elbert Channell officiating. Interment will be at Rosewood Cemetery in Barwick. Mrs. Thacker died Sept. 15, 2011, at her residence after a long illness. She was born in Cook County to Dempsey A. Thomas and Texas Lillian O’Quinn Thomas on Sept. 21, 1921. She was a homemaker and faithful member of Barwick Baptist Church for 40 years. She was a tireless worker for all of her life and had a sweet and gentle soul. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Carter Thacker, to whom she was married for 67 years, also by a son, George Eldon Thacker, and six brothers and sisters. She is survived by a sister LaBeth Purvis, of Adel; a sister-in-law, Marvine Peters, of Jasper, Fla.; and three children, Theo Jane Moore, of Barwick, William Carter Thacker (Carol), of Bossier City, La., Hugh A. Thacker (Patricia), of Panama City, Fla.; and daughter-in-law, Virginia Thacker, of Clio, Mich. Grandchildren include Joseph Mitchell Moore (Suzanne), of Boston, Maxim David Moore (Rosalba), of Thomasville, Charissa LaBeth Thacker, of Panama City, Fla., Brian Keith Thacker (Cheryl), of Wilmington, Del., Christa Sue Thacker (Jason Meyers), of Indianapolis, Ind., Kelly Thacker Bobolik (Andrew), of Flushing, Mich., Rebecca Sweeny, of Burton, Mich., Jeff Beatley (Karen), of Columbiaville, Mich., Vicki Herring, of Clio, Mich., and Tamara Little, of Clio, Mich. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, with special thanks to niece, Carolyn Adams, and her husband, Don, of Palatka, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Georgia, 818 Gordon Ave., Thomasville, Ga. 31792. Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. at the church before the service.
