A teenage girl described as exceptional, wonderful, sweet and kind died Friday night in an accident on a private lake.
Savannah Singletary, 15, died at Archbold Memorial Hospital from injuries suffered while a passenger on a watercraft in the 19000 block of Ga. 3.
“She was an exceptional child. She was just a wonderful, wonderful girl,” said Mike Notaro, headmaster at Brookwood School, where Singletary was in 10th grade.
Notaro said Singletary was sweet and kind to everyone and had friends at every grade level.
She played basketball at Brookwood High School and possessed great promise in the sport, the headmaster said.
The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office was notified about the accident shortly after 7:30 p.m. Friday, said Capt. Steven Jones, sheriff’s office public information officer.
“It was just a freak accident. It was not a crash,” Jones said.
An equestrienne, Singletary recently got her learner’s license, said her uncle, Jimmy Singletary.
A good student, she was heavily involved in basketball, Singletary added.
“That was a big love for her. She loved basketball and was looking forward to the season,” he said.
She also participated in varsity softball, track and soccer.
Singletary said his niece helped at the family florist shop during the holidays.
She was the only child of Rhonda Singletary and Ram Singletary.
