A memorial service for Ruth Ilene Walker is at 4 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2011, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Jimmy Ausburn will officiate. Mrs. Walker died Tuesday, April 5, at her home in Cairo. Mrs. Walker was born Aug. 13, 1937, in Denver, Colo., to Clarence and Mae Scott Hibbs. She was a registered nurse. She and her husband, James M. Walker, have been married 40 years. Before moving to Cairo seven years ago, Ruth had been a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliaries. She enjoyed painting china and ceramics. Loving her family and raising her grandchild, Brea, was her focus. She is survived by her husband, James M. Walker; granddaughter living with her, Brea Walker of Cairo; children, James Torgeson and wife, Terry, and two children of Washington State, Bridget Bryant and husband, Freddie, of Cairo, Angela Thiel and husband, J.R., of Lewis, Kan., Karri Adamson and husband, Brian, of Rose Hill, Kan., Linda Jo Johansen and husband, Scott, of Norfolk, Va.; grandchildren, Anthony Rathel, Eric Rathel, Marla Bush, Cristopher Walker, Sheldon Stoker, Chance Stoker, Roy and Alex; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Veleeta Galbraith and husband, Leonard of Sun City, Calif.
