Services for Hayward Tyler are at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2011 at St. James CME Church, Countyline Street, Pavo. The Rev. Maurice Miller, pastor, the Rev. Estelle Arrington will officiate and interment is in Reedy Creek Cemetery in Pavo. Mr. Tyler died March 4 at his residence. Born Aug. 3, 1946, in Pavo, Ga., he was a son of the late Cora Lee Tyler. At an early age, he joined St. James CME Church in Pavo where he served as steward then later he became steward chairman for five years until he was called home. He was employed by W.J. Powell for 15 years driving trucks. Due to his illness, he had to retire early. He was a dedicated worker and he loved his job and he also worked at Timberlake Grocery in Thomasville. Survivors include his wife, Ora Bell Tyler; children, Kenneth Tyler (Renita) of Elmont, N.Y., Ruth Wilkes (Tom) of Pelham; grandchildren, Douglass Flounoy, Marla Flounoy of Pavo, Tianna Tyler, Laijah Tyler, Glea James of Elmont, N.Y.; one great-grandchild, Kalis Flounoy of Moultrie; a sister, Mattie Embry (Donnel) of Anniston, Ala.; two brothers, Nathaniel Tyler of Thomasville, Larry Tyler of Pavo; seven sisters-in-law, Nina Jackson of Pavo, Louella Davis Tyler of Boston, Mass., Marion Daniel (Leroy) of New York, N.Y., Jessie Mae Brockington, Gloria Brockington of Pavo, Lessie Patterson of Thomasville, Diana Faye Jones (Oliver) of Barwick; five brothers-in-law, Lonnie William (Sharry) of Tampa, Fla., Robert Williams of Lenox, Ga., David Williams of Abbeville, Ga., Eddie Brockington of Queens, N.Y., Cleavland Brockington (Sharryann) of Barwick; a devoted nephew, Otis McBurrow of Pavo; a devoted nurse, Cindy Grantham of Hospice of Southwest Georgia; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and loving friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lester Jackson, Herbert Tyler and Edgar Tyler. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 10 a.m., at 2053 Countyline Street, Pavo, for the procession.
