Dr. Jerume Ray Seay

Services for Dr. Jerume (J.R., Jerry) Ray Seay, 77, of Thomasville, Ga. are at 3 p.m.,  Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010 at The Thomasville Church of Christ, 411 E. Pinetree Blvd. The Rev. Garland Basford will officiate. Dr. Seay passed away peacefully at Capital Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, Sept. 22, in Tallahassee, Fla. Born July 5, 1933, in Slocumb, Ala., he was the son of the late Henry Purvis Seay and Lois Sasser Seay Goude. Upon finishing high school, Dr. Seay joined the Air Force where he served proudly overseas during the Korean War. He earned his doctorate of chiropractic from the Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis, Ind. in 1959. He then moved to Thomasville, Ga., where he practiced chiropractic for nearly 40 years. He was an avid racquetball player playing three times a week for decades and one of the first five to play at the YMCA program. He was a member of the American Legion and a past member of the Exchange Club and had a great love for his community. Dr. Seay is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence Jane Seay; their four children and spouses, son, Victor Seay (Donna) of Boston, daughter Heidi Daniell (James) of Greenville, S.C., daughter, Sherry Spencer (Dan Sobbott) of Atlanta, daughter Laura Hopperton (Mike) of Atlanta; six grandchildren, Natalie Seay Massey (Rusty) Portland, Ore., Dustin Seay of Boston, Robert Daniell and Janie Daniell of Greenville, S.C., Faith Hopperton and Andrew Hopperton of Atlanta; and two great-grandchildren; brother, Lavon Goude of Columbus, Ga.; brother-in-law, Bill Ridgeway of Phenix City, Ala.; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Nell Ridgeway. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., today at the family home, 138 Tall Pines Drive Thomasville. — ICS Cremation & Funeral Home, Lake City, Fla.
