Elizabeth Hill (Lit) Williams

Elizabeth Hill (Lit) Williams, 523 Stone St., Boston, entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 27, 2010, at John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital. Services are 1 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Boston, with the Rev. Horace Holloway III, pastor, the Rev. Dellise Cox, the Rev. Clement Choice and the Rev. John Law officiating. Interment is at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Thomasville. Active pallbearers are Jamal Choice, Steven Glenn, Ayinde King, Alonzo Tucker, Justin Williams and Larry Williams. Mrs. Williams was born Feb. 26, 1925, in Boston, a daughter of the late John and Gussie Hill of Boston. Mrs. Williams joined the church at an early age, where she humbly served our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She eagerly joined the Usher Board No. 1 and was a missionary member, where she worked diligently and enthusiastically. Trinity Missionary Baptist Church was her faith-based place of worship until under God’s plan she was called Home to Glory. She retired from the Thomasville City School System as a food service employee. She attended North Boston School and Douglass High School. On March 4, 1945, she joined in Holy Matrimony to the dearly departed John Wesley (J.W.) Williams whereas to this union, seven devoted children were born. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Etta J. Williams Glenn; three sisters, Jessie Brooks, Josie Bell Graham, Bernetha Brown; and two brothers, Napoleon Hill, John Edward Hill. She leaves to cherish her memories, Charles Williams (Johanna), Seaside, Calif., May P. Williams, Thomasville, Patricia King Cooper (Joseph), Pavo, Gussie Williams, Thomasville, Manassah Williams (Jocelyn), Richmond, Ky., Felton Williams (Joan), El Paso, Texas; and a stepchild, Annie Lou Holland, Thomasville. She also leaves five loving sisters-in-law, Blanche Hill and Claudia Williams, Quitman, Lizzie M. Hill, Mamie Law, and Jessie Brown (Robert), all of Boston; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives and friends “who will forever remember a smile of all smiles.” Visitation will be from noon today, Friday, until 8:30 p.m. Remains will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour. — Hatcher-Peoples Funeral Home
