Services for Thelma McDonald Hiers Flowers of Pavo are at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Johnny Cooper will officiate and interment is in Sardis Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers are Larry Daniel, Ernest Hagan, Tim Weaver, Jerry Daniel, Jim Daniel and Jo Jo Hiers. Mrs. Flowers died Wednesday, Aug. 19 at Golden Living Center in Thomasville. Born Nov. 28, 1913, in Brooks County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Joseph Edward McDonald and Lala Goings McDonald. She was a member of Pineland Baptist Church and a homemaker. Survivors include a daughter, Gail Daniel (Paul) of Gallatin, Tenn.; sons, Jack Hiers (Faye) of Moultrie, Joey Hiers (Helen), Billy Hiers all of Thomasville; daughter, Sherri Weaver (Tim) of Thomasville; 18 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands, Walter Uel Hiers and Milton Flowers; a daughter, Jean Hagan; a granddaughter, Robin Lynn Hagan; and great-grandson, Jeffrey McMullian. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m., today at the funeral home. — Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home
