Services for Johnnie C. Tilley, 75, are at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at Hilltop Bible Baptist Church. Pastor Glen Scoggin III and Billy Creel will officiate and interment follows in Woodlawn Cemetery in Whigham. Active pallbearers are Jay Bentley, Billy Willis, Neal Stevens, Dustin Bentley, Lance Johnson and Nicholas Ruff. Mr. Tilley died Oct. 28 at Grady General Hospital. Born July 31, 1933, in Grady County, he was a son of the late John David Tilley and Gracie Roena Johnson Tilley. He served in the U. S. Air Force and U. S. Army. He married Rachel Thomas Tilley on June 24, 1958. He was an ordained minister and held services at Pinewood Nursing Center in Whigham. Mr. Tilley was also a master plumber, ordained minister of the Gospel and was a member of Hilltop Bible Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Rachel Thomas Tilley of Cairo; daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and Billy Johnson of LaGrange, Vickie and Chris James of Cairo, Johnna and Olin Barnes of Coolidge, Sonia and Maurice Ruff of Cairo, Seritha and Kenneth Keene of Cairo; son and daughter-in-law, Sidney and Tracy Tilley of Panama City, Fla.; brothers, Tony Tilley of Jacksonville, Fla., Sidney Tilley of Fayetteville; sisters, Lorene Sargent of Missouri, Belle Tilley of Florida, Maudine Wilkins of Plattsburg, N.Y., Nellie Tilley of Cairo; grandchildren, Heidi King of New Mexico, Jessica Mojica of Thomasville, Kristin Johnson of LaGrange, Lance Johnson of Cairo, Amber Glover of Cairo, Nicholas Ruff of Cairo, Malane Tilley of Cairo, Brooke Barnes of Coolidge, Hailey Glover of Cairo; great-grandchildren, Ariel Mash of Cairo, Devon Glover of Cairo, Noah King of New Mexico and Rebecca Mojica of Thomasville. Mr. Tilley was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betsy Sellers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
