Agnes Hurst Willis Snell
Agnes Hurst Willis Snell, 81, of 616 Bay Rockyford Road, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at her home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Rev. Perry Lamey officiating, assisted by Rev. George Davis. Casketbearers will be Bryan Cauley, Lance Entrekin, Michael Bryant, Jim Willis, Darrell Gillis and Jimmy Entrekin. Honorary casketbearers will be Marty Allen, Jerome Roberts, Buddy Osborn, Bragg Barrett, Neal Smith and Chris Bryant. Born Aug. 17, 1927 in Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Seaborn Frank Hurst and Ruby Lorain Martin Hurst. She was adopted and raised by the late Hansell and Rev. Lois Hurst. Mrs. Snell was a retired seamstress and was a member of Pelham Church of God. She was first married to the late George David Willis and then to the late James Wesley Snell. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Amburs Hurst and John L. Hurst, and six sisters, Edie Ruth Hurst, Lucille Jones, Thelma Parramor, Annie Sue Harvey, Lennie Mae Martin and Pearl Paramore. Survivors include three sons, Gary Willis and wife Martha of Oglethorpe, Ga., Gerald Willis of Thomasville, and Theron Willis and wife Wynette of Thomasville; three daughters, Clare Cauley of Gray, Ga., Mearian Godwin and husband Ronald of Climax, Ga., and Delilah Bryant and husband Alton of Hartsfield; one sister, Dianne Kennedy of Bainbridge; eight grandchildren, Tami Entrekin and husband Jimmy, Tara Gillis and husband Darrell, Cindy Elswick and husband Robbie, Jim Willis, Michael Bryant and wife Angie, Bryan Cauley, Tim Roberts and wife Susan and Marlena Mathis; nine great-grandchildren, Haley Entrekin, Lance Entrekin, Brandon Gillis, Nathan Gillis, Jacob Elswick, Rebecca Elswick, Ethan Elswick, Holly Willis and Dylan Roberts. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at Cobb Funeral Chapel. Roy Carl Odom
Roy Carl Odom entered into eternal life at age 65. He was at Emory University Hospital fighting leukemia. Carl spent his young years through high school in Cairo. He retired from ChoicePoint after a long distinguished career. He was living in Perry, Fl., and Valdosta, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Elmira (Agner) Odom, and a brother, Conrad Odom. He leaves behind his wife, Emelynn Carlisle Odom, Valdosta; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Steve Browning, Hahira; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Kellie Odom, Thomasville; sisters-in-law, Betty Odom, Tallahassee, Fl., Laurie Conradi, Thomasville; six grandchildren whom he loved and shared many good times, Benjamin, Lindsey and Brooks Browning, all of Hahira, Lake, Carson and Lawson Odom, all of Thomasville; three aunts, Doris Lewis, Perry, Laura Felder, Dowling Park, Fl., Naomi Driggus, Perry; cousin, Lucille Burch, Perry; four wonderful nephews, many fun first cousins and good, good friends. We all feel his absence from this earth but we rejoice that he is in our Father’ presence. Services will be held at The Norcross First United Methodist Church Chapel on Beaver Ruin Road in Norcross, where he was a member, on Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at 11 a.m. He will lay in peace at the chapel from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Family visitation will be after the service. Graveside services will be held at Riverside Memorial Cemetery on North Valdosta Road, Valdosta, at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008.
