Services for Charles Eugene “Gene” Dodd Sr., 80, of Quitman, are at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at Quitman First Baptist Church. The Rev. Marty Carnes will officiate and interment follows in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Dodd died Tuesday, Jan. 8 at South Georgia Medical Center. A life long resident of Brooks County, he was the son of James Clarence and Annie Mae Patrick Dodd. He was farmer, retired Brooks County Tax Commissioner, member of the Quitman First Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Ada Frances Dodd of Quitman; three sons, James (Kathy) Dodd of Alpharetta, Charles Dodd Jr. of Quitman, Bill (Pat) Dodd of Marietta; four grandchildren, Kelly, Matthew, Rebecca, and Lexi; and one sister, Billie Crager. He was preceded in death by a son, Allen Richard Dodd; four brothers, Fred Dodd, Jack Dodd, James Dodd, and Frank Dodd and a sister Allene Seymour. Floral tributes will be accepted or those desiring may make contributions to the Quitman First Baptist Church , P.O. Box 569, Quitman, Ga. 31643.
