William Grayer Searcy



SYCAMORE — William Grayer Searcy, 96, of Sycamore, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Sycamore Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Perry Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Searcy was a native and lifelong resident of Turner County. He was the son of the late Will and Etta Mae Royal Searcy. He was a retired farmer and businessman. He was a member of the Sycamore Methodist Church and served as a member of the Turner County Board of Commissioners over a span of 50 years.

Mr. Searcy is survived by his wife of 76 years, Hazel Clements Searcy of Sycamore; three grandchildren, Leigh Ann Riley of Albany, Dawn S. Swanson of Pine Mountain and W. Christopher Searcy of Albany; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruby Barry of Sycamore and Sue Myrick of Macon.

Montez Connell



NASHVILLE — Montez Connell, 87, of Nashville, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at Berrien County Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home. The Rev. Billy Southerland will officiate. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lovein Funeral Home.

Mrs. Connell was born on Jan. 5, 1919, in Butts County. She was the daughter of William Franklin E’Dalgo and Ruby Alline Heath, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter-in-law, Tammy O’Herron. She was a homemaker, a member of Nashville First Baptist Church and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Ellis Connell of Nashville; two daughters, Patricia Mathis of Albany and Penney (Roy) Ray of Nashville; a sister, Peggy Bradford of Nashville; six grandchildren, Tony (Cynde) Mathis, Craig (Candi) Mathis, Jason (Misty) Mathis, Rusty (Leigh) Mathis, Heath O’Herron and Heather O’Herron; nine great-grandchildren, Kim Marsh, Melanie Mathis, Kaitlyn Mathis, McKenna Marsh, Shannon Mathis, Hunter Mathis, Matthew Marsh, Miranda Mathis and Madison Mathis; a step-grandson, Mark (Sabrina) Ray; a step-granddaughter, Tracie (Woody) Polino; and two step-great-grandsons, Justin and Logan.

The family requests memorials to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary or to Hospice of South Georgia.
