Mattie D. Nixon
TIFTON — Mattie D. Nixon, 79, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Thomas AME Church in Hawkinsville. Interment will follow at Pine Bloome Cemetery. The Rev. John L. Wilborn, pastor of the Kings Chapel CME Church of Perry, will officiate.
Mrs. Nixon was a retired teacher of more than 30 years of service with the Cook County Board of Education from 1948 until 1960; the Irwin County Board of Education 1960 through 1962; the Ben Hill County Board of Education in 1963; and the Houston County Board of Education 1964 until her retirement in 1990. She served as a teacher at Kings Chapel Elementary School until 1971 and then with the Tucker Elementary School as a teacher and assistant principal.
After her retirement, she began a community service with the Pink Ladies of Taylor Regional Hospital, Hawkinsville Housing Authority, the American Cancer Society and others.
A member of Williams Chapel CME Church, for many years she served as Missionary Board President, Steward, Treasurer, Youth Director and Lay Leader at Myrix Chapel in Pineview, several auxiliaries and Kings Chapel CME Church of Perry, a member of the Sunday School, Missionary and Lay Council.
She leaves to cherish memories her son, Ronald Keith Nixon and Deloris of Tifton; one grandson, James Anderson Nixon of Tifton; sister-in-law, Marion T. Deloach of Hawkinsville; mother of her grandson, Jamaine A. Nixon of Tifton; devoted friends Dorothy Ross, Eugenia Sampson, Annie Pearl Reese, Earnestine (Eddie) Anderson, Russell (Christine) Harris, Candy Powell and Mary Anderson of Moultrie, Lillie Washington and family, Earnestine Wilks and family, the Tharpe Family and many other loving relatives and friends.

Ida Mae Golden
ENIGMA — Ida Mae Drawdy Golden, 89, of Enigma, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Zion Ministries in Enigma. The Rev. Marv Williams and the Rev. Jackie Connell will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakey Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be taken to the residence of Curtis and Lunette Williams in Enigma today to lie in state until one hour before the service.
Jeff Abell, Kurt Williams III, Chesley Culpepper, Zach Abell, Dan Drawdy, J.E. Bennett and Jason Golden will serve as pallbearers. Roy Hayes, Troy Hayes, Larry McMillian, Ray Peele, Ronald Harbin, Ralph Williams, Roy Ray, Duane Griner, Sonny Stinson and Lewis Dean will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Born Oct. 2, 1917 in Tift County, Mrs. Golden was the daughter of the Rev. T.J. Drawdy and Elvie Griner Drawdy, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband Walter James Golden Jr., who died March 4, 1992; a son, Raygene Golden; six brothers, J. Eddie Bennett, the Rev. Leon Drawdy, Clyde Drawdy, Clements Drawdy, Clint Drawdy and Carl Drawdy; four sisters, Idell Sumner, Maggie Hayes, Irene Brown and Lonnie Granger.
Mrs. Golden was a homemaker and a member of Mount Zion Ministries in Enigma and had lived in Enigma for 62 years.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Lunette Golden Williams and her husband, Curtis, of Enigma, Jerolyn Golden Culpepper and her husband, Ronnie, of Enigma; four grandchildren, Judy Williams Abell, the Rev. Marv Williams, Michel Hastings and Chesley Culpepper; six great-grandchildren, Kurt Williams III, Zach Abell, Perrin Re Williams, Rachel Abell, Jenna Gabrielle Williams and Braden Culpepper.
