Tommie Lee

Rockwell Sr.

SYLVESTER — Deacon Tommie Lee Rockwell Sr., 75, of Sylvester, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Blue Springs Baptist Church in Warwick. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Oakfield. The Rev. Samuel Stokes Sr. will officiate.

Deacon Rockwell was born on Sept. 28, 1930, in Worth County. He was educated in the Worth County public school system and was a maintenance technician for the Crisp County Power Commission. He was a member of the Blue Springs Baptist Church in Warwick, where he served as a member of the Usher Board and the Deacon Board.

Survivors include four daughters, Debra G. Rockwell, LaCynthia A. Rockwell, Vera M. Rockwell and Lee V. Rockwell Outlaw, all of Sylvester; three sons, Larry Rockwell of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Tommie Rockwell Jr. of Tifton and Robert Rockwell of Ashburn; two sisters, Bella W. Wise of Albany and Lillie Reed of Jacksonville, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Glenn ‘Doc’

Blanchard

TIFTON — Glenn Lanier “Doc” Blanchard, 77, of Tifton, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Ike Branch and the Rev. T. Manuel Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Brushy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Irwin County.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

Brian Jordan, Jason Haire, Kenny Ray, David Sullivan, Bobby Conway and Chuck Haire will serve as pallbearers.

Born Nov. 6, 1928, in Irwin County to the late Harden N. Blanchard and Cora Ring Blanchard Clark, Mr. Blanchard was also preceded in death by his stepfather, William F. Clark; one brother, Harden N. Blanchard Jr.; and one sister, Margie Bearden.

Mr. Blanchard had lived most of his life in Tift County. He had retired as a welding inspector with Chicago Bridge and Iron Company. He enjoyed racing and built and owned the car that won the NASCAR State Championship in 1966, driven by Aubrey Holley. He was also an avid gardener.

Mr. Blanchard is survived by one son, Ronald Blanchard of Tifton; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Paula and Don Jordan of Chula and Darlene and Steve Haire of Washington, Mo.; one sister and one brother-in-law, Lounell and Ray Jensen of Chula; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

‘Tommy’ Milligan

MOULTRIE — Thomas Watt ‘Tommy’ Milligan, 52, of Moultrie, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. The Rev. J.E. Moak and Dr. Jerry Mahan will officiate. Visitation will be held after the service.

Mr. Milligan was born on July 5, 1954, in Colquitt County. He was the son of Inez Jenkins Milligan of Moultrie and the late Wilkes Milligan.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Milligan is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Mickey and Kit Milligan of Westfield, Mass., Gary and Donna Milligan of Killeen, Texas and Randy and Crystal Milligan of Snellville, and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Marcia and Ronnie Smith of Valdosta and Beth and Joe Tinsley of Tifton.

Norris Mullis

OMEGA — Clara Anne Norris Mullis, 58, of Omega, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Thompson and the Rev. Douglas Gibson will officiate.

Wade Hill, David Norris, Spencer Rose, Tyler Rose, Ray Lester and John Setters will serve as pallbearers. K-Mart Associates of the Tifton store will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Mullis was born on Feb. 1, 1948, in Johnston County, N.C. She was the daughter of Bill Norris and Viola Sanders Norris, both deceased. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Tifton and had lived in Tift County for 35 years. She was an assistant manager of the Tifton K-Mart.

Survivors include her husband, James Charles Mullis of Omega; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Jimmy Workman of Valdosta and Toni and Bobby Blanchard of Omega; three brothers, Leon Norris of Pine Level, N.C., David Norris of Smithfield, N.C., and John Norris of Greer, S.C.; two sisters, Jean Hill of Clayton, N.C., and Libby Barnes of Smithville, N.C.; a special sister, Sonja Baker of Tifton; and six grandchildren, Dusty and Bubba Blanchard and Jacob, James, Julia and Melinda Workman.
