Stay blessed
“I would like to send a special thank you out to Mr. Bob Richbourg, who gave me some good advice last week on my window tinting. I just want to tell you thank you for everything. A special thank you goes out to sister Sylvia in the courthouse and Andrea. Thank y’all for leading me to Mr. Bob and I will always just say that you continue to be blessed. Do the work of the Lord and he will keep you and guide you in all your ways. Stay blessed and be blessed.
How many?
“There should be tougher restrictions on ATV sales and usage. Parents need to be more aware of how and where their kids are riding the four wheelers. How many more kids have to die before something is done?”
Much needed
“To Tifton and Tift County officials: Could some of the SPLOST funds be put toward the repair of Tift Avenue, expecially at the intersection of Second and Tift and at the railroad on Tift Avenue between Second and Third streets. Thank you very much because this is a very much-needed request.”
Special care
“To all the ICU nurses and respiratory therapists, from the bottom of my heart thank you very much for taking care of me. A special thank you to Jerry Ethridge and Tift County EMTs for coming all the way to Hazlehurst to transfer me to Tifton and to all the employees for taking such good care of one of their own. Thanks!! — Betty Batten”
Good job
“I find it interesting that we were just told that Tift County Schools had lower test scores this year, but today they announced we all made AYP. I know that this is the first year one school has made AYP and I am proud of Eighth Street for doing it!”
One hand clapping
“Someone asked if Congress’ immigration laws are not obeyed, does Congress really exist. Going deeper into that question, if our sovereign borders are not respected at home or abroad, does our nation really exist? Since 9/11/01 all of our leaders call us a a ‘Homeland,’ so maybe the answer is no, we are not a nation any longer. That’s a disturbing thought to chew on, just in time for Independence Day.”
Thanks, Carlos
“Thanks to Carlos with Yards Unlimited for coming out on a weekend and repairing my sprinkler system when I had a broken pipe. He was the only one I called that was willing to help me!”
Try it
“To all gossipers. Please stop spreading the devil’s work. Try working for God and you may like it.”
It’s the economy
“Raves to the economists who reject the idea that we ‘need’ immigrant labor because Americans don’t want to work. It’s kitchen-table economics, not the sweat factor, that keeps them away from blue collar work that is being colonized by an illegal labor force that drives wages down.”
What do they do?
“Start with BOE. We have four curriculum directors with three secretaries – two other coordinators – a professional learning coordinator with secretary – two learning focused school coordinators – whatever do all these people do? Trim fat at the central office, put more teachers in the schools, maybe our scores would be higher and children smarter. No wonder everyone wants to move to central office.”
