Sharron Powell
TIFTON — Sharron Powell, 70, of Tifton, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bowen-Donaldson.
The family will receive food between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. today and Monday at Ty Ty United Methodist Church. Family and friends will eat at Ty Ty United Methodist Church following the service.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons and nephews, Robert Edmondson, Chris Hale, Christopher Singletary, Shane Singletary, Richard Long, Ty Cummings, Riley B. Hopper and Charles Lessner.
Mrs. Powell was born on Nov. 8, 1935, in Baltimore, Md. She was the daughter of Charles Mitchell and Lillian Kline Mitchell, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by a son, Johnny Howard Edmondson; a stepson, David Powell; eight sisters; and five brothers. She was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith. She moved to Tifton from Maryland in 1972.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Eugene Powell of Ty Ty; six sons and three daughters-in-law, Romulus Edmondson of Ty Ty, Dough Edmonson of Spring Hope, N.C., Rusty and Janice Edmondson of Ty Ty, John Herbert and Linda Edmondson of Ty Ty, Golan “Chip” Edmondson of Ty Ty and Eddie and Dana Edmondson of Tifton; three stepsons and two daughters-in-law, Eddie and Kathy Powell of Westminster, Md., Alvin Powell of Ty Ty, and Joey and Cindy Powell of Glenburnie, Md.; three stepdaughters and two sons-in-law, Cathy Tripp of Tifton, Christine and Terry Kelly of Tifton and Diane and William Singletary of Poulan; two sisters, Elsie Gray of Cockeysville, Md., and Kay Blueford of Randallstown, Md.; and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Frances Wood Mercer
TIFTON — Mary Frances Wood Mercer, 67, of Tifton died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with burial at Tift Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Edward Wood and the Rev. Michael King will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors, Tiftarea Chapel.
Mrs. Mercer was born on December 5, 1938, in Tift County to the late Carl Julian Wood Sr. and Catherine Lucille Ball Wood.
She was also preceded in death by one nephew, John David Mercer.
Mrs. Mercer was a homemaker who enjoyed baking cakes, gardening, and being a good wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was of the Pentecostal Faith.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Mercer of Tifton; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Bobby and Tammy Mercer of Chula, Randy Mercer of Charleston, S.C., and Spencer Mercer of Tifton; one daughter, Cheryl Mercer Walker of Tifton; five brothers, Carl J. Wood Jr. of Omega, Rev. Edward Wood of Statesboro, Julian Wood, Douglas Wood, and Stephen R. Wood, all of Tifton; four sisters, Paulette Blanchett of Alapaha, Martha King of Lafayette, Ind., Kathy Ford of Charlotte, N.C. and Ruthie Wood of Tifton; her grandchildren, Miranda Walker, Allison Walker, David Turner, Blake Mercer, Jeffery Mercer, Ashley Mercer, Laycee Mercer, and Hunter Mercer; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
