Services for Tom Duncan Jones, 77, of Duluth, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2003 at Sandy Springs Chapel with interment at Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta. Mr. Jones died Aug. 19. Born Nov. 22, 1925 in Climax, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He enjoyed several successful careers including NASCAR as chief mechanic for Fireball Roberts, Tom Jones Auto Clinic and Tom’s Seafood Distribution. A member of Sandy Springs Masonic Lodge No. 124, he was Past Patron of Oglethorpe Chapter No. 11, Order of the Eastern Star, formerly on the director’s staff of the Yaarab Shrine Temple and an active member of the Georgia Antique Engine Club. He attended Clear Springs Baptist Church in Duluth. Mr. Jones was a happy, strong, complex person who loved people and animals deeply and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ledford Jones; his brother, Jackson Elzie Jones of Climax; three daughters, Elaine Bellamy of Woodstock, Kathy Branan of Lawrenceville, Angela Strode of Ocoee, Fla.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. — Sandy Springs Chapel Funeral Directors
