THOMASVILLE — For those eager to chomp on some chicken, follow the cows.

Chick-fil-A’s pro-chicken cow mascots, known for their marketing success, will soon adorn another new franchise.

The Thomasville Chick-fil-A will open Oct. 14, Mike Zolt, owner/operator said.

The restaurant’s founding reputation rests with its original boneless chicken breast sandwich.

According to the Chick-fil-A Web site, there are about 30 Chick-fil-A franchises within a 150-mile radius of Thomasville.

As part of the new chicken place’s grand opening, 100 people can win free food.

“On Wednesday (Oct. 13), we’ll do a first 100 ceremony where the first 100 customers opening morning will get Chick-fil-A for a year for free,” Zolt said.

The first 100 customers age 18 or older who have followed all contest rules and stayed in line until 6 a.m. Oct. 14 when the store opens will win.

The store opens, Zolt said.

More information about Chick-fil-A’s grand opening ceremony will be forthcoming.

The city’s new eatery will encompass 4,261 square feet and can seat 152 people.

Zolt estimated between 45 and 55 people will be hired to work in the restaurant, which is currently accepting applications. The application process began in early September.

As of early Monday afternoon, Zolt said 28 people already had been hired. Most of the applicants live in Thomasville. Some are from Cairo, Zolt said.

Applications are accepted through the Department of Labor or at the construction site in a trailer designated as a temporary office. The DOL is located at 2551 E. Pinetree Blvd.

Chick-fil-A, which does not open on Sundays, is located at 15062 U.S. Hwy. 19 South in the front of the former Wal-Mart complex.
