Worth the effort
“Are we promoting reading or are we promoting the creativity of the projects due to the reading in the accelerated reading program? If a child receives a lower grade because it is not as nice and creative then the child will be discouraged because the reading wasn’t worth the effort.”
Pick up the trash
“It’s awful how DOT mows the sides of the roads and mows up paper. It looks worse than the grass. Someone should walk ahead and pick up the trash.”
Price of indigent care
“Would a Thomas County commissioner please step forward and explain how we Thomas County taxpayers will pay for Archbold’s indigent care program? My suggestion is take my $450 in school taxes and apply it toward this worthy cause. The elderly would appreciate it.”
Giving the left ammo
“I disagree with Kathy Folsom about using live birds and killing them just for sport and training dogs. No bird or animal should be killed unless someone is going to eat it. This kind of stuff gives hunters a bad name and gives the left ammunition to use against our gun rights.”
Talking to machine
“There has to be a better way to communicate with the Social Security office. I have tried for days to speak to someone. I have used the number in the phone book but all I get is a machine.”
Hard working parents
“Mr. Nogowski, as a Brookwood School parent, I’m offended by your references to us as wallets and deep pockets. These parents are hard working people in the community like yourself and there are plenty of other people with deep wallets in the city and county but I don’t hear you referring to them.”
“It’s not the mowers fault. They’re doing their job. They make our highways safer and prettier. If you have a problem with your paper, why don’t you buy a paperbox and you won’t have that problem any more.”
“Too many people are worrying about the wrong things. You should be worrying about saving your soul so when Jesus comes, you will be ready.”
“To the people who were dumping their trash at the Springhill Road site: You should start dumping their trash along the side of the road since they don’t have any place to dump their trash anymore.”
“I bet the commissioners would take a second look at keeping the Springhill Road site open if people started dumping their trash wherever they wanted to.”
“We recently visited Paradise Park and were just amazed. We would think that as much tax money is received from taxpayers that they could certainly keep up the park. The gazebo is rotting away.”
“Why can’t law enforcement do something about all the illegal aliens we have. They are taking jobs away from everybody.”
“Why is it Boston can get all this grant money for beautification but they need to be putting up street lights on some of the darkest streets in town especially Hwy. 133 and 84.”
“Mr. Nogowski, I’m offended by your remarks in reference to the Brookwood School football team. Our players are not riding around town in expensive cars. Our players take strong, academic classes. They are practicing under the supervision of an excellent coaching staff. Maybe you should come see before you write.”
“I like the riding shopping carts in Wal-Mart, Publix and Harvey’s on East Jackson Street. Why can’t Harvey’s on Smith Avenue have them? These carts let a disabled person shop with ease.”
“Peach Care is for working Georgians who don’t earn enough to pay for insurance through their employer. It is only for people who work.”
“Keep the Peach Care program. I’m a working parent of three and not eligible for Medicaid. I want to make sure my kids are taken care of.”
“What type of person would want to cut Peach Care? I live paycheck to paycheck and now I don’t have to worry about my kids going to the doctor versus buying them food to eat.”
“I am a visitor to your town this week and just wanted to say thanks for the great hospitality, especially the customer service at Stafford’s on Smith Avenue.”
