Americans, wake up
“The government is bringing over foreigners, setting them up in business and allowing them to wait five years before they have to begin paying taxes. They are doing this with our taxpayer money and we still have to pay taxes. We are becoming flooded with foreigners. They are coming to our country, getting richer and richer, while the Americans are getting poorer. We need to stand up and do something. Write to your congressman and senators. Wake up, Americans.”
Give them respect
“To the person that recently retired from the Department of Labor with almost 40 years of service, I commend you. I can appreciate the number of people out there that won’t work or hold down a job and probably never will. But over the past couple of years, we have lost hundreds of manufacturing jobs. These people have worked 40, 30, 20 or more years and are not the same as the ones you refer to as not seeking employment. Some of the employees of closed companies were told that they had certain rights under the Trade Adjustment Act that would be implemented by the Georgia Department of Labor. The TAA was approved for the workers because the company moved the work offshore or outsourced to other countries. The TAA was to give them the ability to go to school and retrain, or extend unemployment benefits until they were able to get a job that paid a decent wage. These people need to be treated with respect from state agencies. These are not people off the welfare rolls. These people are your neighbors, the people you go to church with or do business with. They need to be treated as such.”
Rethink gun thoughts
“Please rethink your thoughts before automatically protesting hunting and gun ownership in the U.S. To me, your comment says we should disband the military and remove the guns from the hands of police officers. This nation was founded on freedom, but this is slowly dissolving due to people like you.”
Set a driving example
“Why do some people act the way they do behind the wheel of a car? Older people need to set an example for younger drivers. I recently saw a man ranting at someone who was simply trying to turn. It makes me angry.”
Less emphasis?
“Is the Thomasville Police Department placing less emphasis on speeding throughout our fair city with about half as many tickets issued in 2003 as opposed to 2002? How about running red lights? Those figures weren’t ever released.”
Deadbeat dads
“How can we support our families other than food stamps, welfare and inexpensive homes for our families to live in when these deadbeat dads don’t take care of their children. The law doesn’t do anything to find them. I have a court order for child support. I can’t work two jobs. I was married to this deadbeat dad.”
