Mildred W. Gipson
Services for Mildred W. Gipson, Perry, Fla., are at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home Chapel in Perry, Fla. The Rev. Billy Gipson Sr. and the Rev. Ricky Gipson Sr. will officiate and interment is at 1 p.m., at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville. Mrs. Gipson died Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Doctors Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Marion Hubert Ward and Roslyn (Creak) Ward. She previously worked as a department manager for Wal-Mart. Coming from Thomasville, she had lived in Perry for the past two years. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and the Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed Bingo, being a mother and her family. Survivors include three sons, George “Ed” GIpson and wife, Sandra of Como, N.C., Billy D. Gipson Sr. and wife, Teresa J. of Perry, Fla., Ricky W. Gipson Sr. and wife, Vickie B. of Boston; two daughters, Linda J. Lee and husband, Ken of Coolidge, Susan G. Hosay and husband, Bill of Gainesville, Fla.; one brother, Charles Ward and wife, Eva M. of Perry; four sisters, Frances Tallion and husband, Bernie of Fort Bend, Ind., Mamie Zola of East Lake, Ohio, June Anderson and husband, Jim of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., Peggy Sherrill and husband, Don of Mont Eagle, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Gipson; three brothers, John Edward Ward, William N. Ward, Joe David Ward; and two sisters, Vera Mayfield and Ann Chasiteen. — Joe P. Jeanette White
Services for Jeanette White, 68, 305 Plum St., Thomasville, are at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at Rebecca Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. James Harvey, pastor officiating, and interment is in Peaceful Rest Cemetery. Mrs. White died Monday, Aug. 29 at Archbold Hospital. Born Feb. 10, 1937, in Miller County, she was a daughter of the late Eddie Lee White and Ida Mae Williams Oliver. She was married to Roosevelt White Sr. of Thomasville who survives. She moved to Thomasville in 1961 from Donalsonville and was retired from food service at Southwestern State Hospital in 1996. She was a member and deaconess of Rebecca Missionary Baptist Church. Other survivors include daughter, Patricia Cromartie (Rosamond) of Thomasville; son, Roosevelt White Jr. (Beverly) of Thomasville; daughter, Sharon D. White of Greensboro, N.C.; son, Michael T. White (Mary) of Thomasville; granddaughter, Keisha L. White of Albany; grandsons, Antwan Bush, Rod Cromartie both of Thomasville; granddaughter, Jeniece Cromartie of Thomasville; grandson, Antonzio White of Thomasville; granddaughter, Lakedra White of Thomasville; great-grandson, Javoriss Bush of Thomasville; uncle, Willis Williams (Elizabeth) of Brinson; aunts, Delois Brown of Donalsonville, Brownie M. Herbin of Tampa, Fla.; sister, Maxine Oliver Thomas of New York; and numerous of other friends and relatives. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Southwest Georgia in memory of Jeanette White, 808 Gordon Ave., Thomasville. The viewing is today from noon to 9 p.m., at the funeral home and 9:30 a.m. until the service Friday at the church.
