Charles Emanuel Cannon
Services for Charles Emanuel Cannon, 67, Lamont, Fla. are at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2001 at Lamont Baptist Church in Lamont. Interment is in Walker Cemetery in Madison County, Fla. Mr. Cannon died Wednesday, August 8 in Lamont. Born in Thomas County, Ga., he had lived in South Carolina before moving to Lamont 2 1/2 years ago. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator for English Construction Co., in Greenville, S.C. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a Baptist. Survivors include a son, Charles Cannon, Locust Grove, Va.; three daughters, Charlene Barrett of Palm City, Fla., Linda Gomez of Hopetown, Fla., Kay Cannon of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; brothers, Lonnie Cannon of La Pine, Ore., Rodney Cannon of Perry, Fla.; six sisters, Dorothy Ryan of Boston, Pauline Smith of Boston, Betty Lindsey of Boston, Wilma Mitchem of Reno, Nev., Barbara Clemons of Lamont, Francis Brumbley of Wacissa, Fla. Robert “Bob” Franklin Jordan
A Memorial Mass for Robert “Bob” Franklin Jordan, 68, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2001 at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church. Private internment to be held at a later date. Mr. Jordan died Tuesday, August 7, 2001. He served in the U. S. Army for 23 years. Four years of that service was in Vietnam. He also retired from Corpus Christi Army Depot after 13 years of employment. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, both fresh water and saltwater. He participated in many golf tournaments in the Coastal Bend. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Bernadette “Bea” Jordan of Corpus Christi, Texas; children, Lisa Gensemer of Rock Hill S. C., and Robert F. Jordan Jr. of Harrisburg, Pa.; five grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Adams, Mildred Boles, and Katherine Smith, all of Boston; brothers, Donald Jordan of Pasadena, Md., and Hayward Jordan of Ormond, Fla.; and step-children, Brenda Davidson, and Rick Hutchens both of Corpus Christi.–Corpus Christi Funeral Home
Waymon Connell Phillips
Graveside services for Waymon Connell Phillips, 68, Climax, are are at 10a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2001 at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Climax. The Rev. Lowell Layman will officiate. Internment is at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Waymon Michael Phillips, Larry Connell Phillips, Terry Keith Phillips, Dewey Mark Phillips, Scott Douglas Weathersby, John Collins, and Nicholas Scott Weathersby. Mr. Philiips died Tuesday, August 7, 2001 at St. Luke Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. Born March 7, 1933 in Bainbridge, he was the son of the late George Dewey Phillips Sr. and Montie Josey Phillips. He lived in Bainbridge his whole life. He was a member of the Baptist faith, and was retired from Engelhard Minerals and Chemicals after 32 years of service. He was also a retired farmer. He was a member of the Georgia Farm Bureau and was married to Shelby Jean Cain Phillips, who preceded him in death. Survivors include his sons, Waymon Michael Phillips of Brinson, Larry Connell Phillips of Climax, Terry Keith Phillips of Bainbridge, and Dewey Mark Phillips of Climax; daughters, Leatha Jean Weathersby of Climax, Marsha Darlene Collins of Climax, and Sandra Pearl Phillips of Climax; four grandchildren; and sisters Ernestine Rentz of Thomasville, Rachel Grogen of Bushnell, Fla.; and Barbara Watts of Climax–Cox Funeral Home.
Walter Lee Suber
Services for Walter Lee Suber, 33, Moultrie, are at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2001 at Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Barrett officiating. Interment is at Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Pallbearers are Lester Suber, Billy D. Houston, Greg Houston, Kevin Houston, Jim Hill, and Billy G. Houston. Mr. Suber died Wednesday, August 8, 2001 at Sunrise Nursing Home in Moultrie after an extended illness. He was born June 17, 1968 in Colquitt County. He was an automobile mechanic. Mary Frances Willis
Services for Mary Frances Willis, 59, Thomasville, are at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2001 at Willowhead Missionary Baptist Church with the Elder William C. Brinson officiating and Elder Silas Brinson, pastor. Burial is at Peacefulrest Cemetery in Thomasville. Active pallbearers are the Douglass High Class of 1959, and Deacon Board of the Willowhead Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Willis died Monday, August 6, 2001 at Archbold Hospital. Born Sept. 1, 1941 in Thomasville, she was the daughter of Mary L. Jones and the late Eugene Parsons. She lived her whole life in Thomasville and was a domestic worker. She married Lester Willis March 21, 1992 in Thomasville. She was a member of the Willowhead Missionary Baptist Church and was a graduate of the Douglas High School class of 1959. Survivors include her husband, Lester Willis of Thomasville; mother, Mary L. Jones of Thomasville; son, Travis Thornton of Thomasville; sister, Joanne Macklin of Thomasville; nephew, Jimmy Macklin Jr. of Thomasville; great nephew, Jimmy Macklin III of Thomasville; cousins, Hollie (Aurora) Jones of St. Petersburg, Fla., Annie Joyce Jones of St. Petersburg, Fla., James (Zondra) Jones of Tallahassee, and John Henry (Tiny) Jones of St. Petersburg; and a host of other relatives and friends. The body will lie instate from 12p.m. until the funeral hour at the church.
