Robert James (Sug) Brown Sr.
Services for Robert James (Sug) Brown Sr., 60, 409 Augusta Ave., Thomasville are at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 22, 2004 at St. Thomas AME Church, 700 N. Broad St., Thomasville. The Rev. James N. Greene, St. Luke CME Church, Thomasville, will officiate and interment is in Peaceful Rest Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Brother Earl McClain, Brother Mickey Anderson, Brother Harry Turner, Brother Dennis Baynard, Brother Tommy Jackson, Brother Thomas Cline and stewards of St. Luke CME Church. Mr. Brown died May 17 at his residence. Born Oct. 24, 1943 in Thomasville, he was a son of the late Evelyn Jones and the late L.D. Brown. He was married to Lorene McClain Brown. A 1961 graduate of Douglass High School, he was a lifetime resident of Thomasville and a dock worker at Road Way Inc. He was a member of St. Luke CME Church where he served on the board for Christian Education, Steward Board, Usher Board and president for youth basketball. Survivors include his wife, Lorene Brown of Thomasville; son, Robert James Brown Jr. of Atlanta; daughters, Cynthia Serena Brown, Sheila Y. Brown both of Thomasville; sons, Dallas Lee Brown of Nichols, Alonzo (Sug) (Shavonna) Brown of Atlanta; daughters, Mary Evelyn Jackson, Tonya Floyd Ndomiajah both of Thomasville; brothers, Mark Brown, Jeffery Brown, Richard Brown, Michael Brown all of Riveria Fla.; sisters, Bernadine Brown of Tallahassee, Fla., Princess Ann Brown of Germany; sisters-in-law, Annie Lue Holland, Belinda Wright, Syndra Scott all of Thomasville, Cathy (Jay) Davis of Thomasville; brothers-in-law, Wiley (Clement) McClain of Albany, Nathaniel (Sandra) McClain of Albany, Earl McClain and Larry McClain both of Thomasville. He was preceded in death by son, Santo Rocky McClain; brother, Issac Brown; sister-in-law, Bernice McClain; and brother-in-law, Ben McClain. Fannie Davis Tinsley
Services for Fannie Davis Tinsley, 96, Pelham are at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 22, 2004 at Mizpah Baptist Church. Elder Max Childs will officiate assisted by Elder Leon Andrews and interment is in Mizpah Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Tim Davis, Bill Davis, Chad Daughtry, Ike Maxwell, Andy Ponder and Leon Tinsley III. Mrs. Tinsley died May 19 at Mitchell County Hospital. Born July 26, 1907 in Meigs, she was a daughter of the late Pashie Palmer and the late Jonah Beal Davis. On May 14, 1933, she married Leon R. Tinsley Sr. who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of United Daughters of the Confederacy Chapter 383 and daughter of a Confederate soldier in the Civil War. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Reba Tinsley of Pelham; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Ann and Marion Rhodes of Quitman, Dorothy Sue and Wayne Maxwell of Cairo; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Naomi Davis Scarbrough of Pelham; sisters-in-law, Margaret Voorhees, Virginia T. Barker, Doris and Buddy Gelm and Dolly Tinsley all of Orlando, Fla. — Braswell Funeral Home
