Marian I. Colvin

Services for Marian I. Colvin, 82, Thomasville, are at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004 at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home Chapel. A son, the Rev. Dr. John Brooks will officiate and interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Steve Brooks, Jason Brooks, Lonnie Fielder, Mark Barfield, Bobby Jackson and Donnie Brinson. Mrs. Colvin died Friday, Oct. 1 at Camellia Gardens of Life Care. Born July 24, 1922 in Thomas County, she was a daughter of the late John Otis Guy and Nora Inez Goethe Guy. She was a graduate of Thomasville High School, a seamstress and homemaker and a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Thomasville. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilson Brooks and her second husband of 25 years, Oliver Colvin. Survivors include her daughters, Penny Hadsel of Fresno, Calif., Jean Brinson of Thomasville, Rose Wodaski of Lutz, Fla., Anne Brock of Tallahassee, Fla.; sons, John Brooks of DeSoto, Texas, Randy Brooks of Whitewood, S.D., Tim Brooks of St. Hedwig, Texas; sister, Ethel Slappey of Ochlocknee; grandchildren, Debra Wolgemuth, Robin Shepard, Donnie Brinson, Tina Barfield, Steve Ray Brooks, Stephanie Olquin, Jason Brooks, Peter Salinas, Benjamin J. Brooks, Angela Salussolia, Melissa Posas, Marianne Plank, Mathew Brooks, Amanda Bennett; stepchildren, Beth Floyd and numerous others; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Milton Buck Guy, Eugene Guy, William Guy; and four sisters, Lucille Walker, Helen Bonner, Doris Hamilton and Madge Jelliffee. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Florine McAllister Freeman

Services for Florine McAllister Freeman, 79, Barwick, are at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004 at Barwick Baptist Church. The Rev. Lester Allen and the Rev. Philip Hudson will officiate and interment is in Rosewood Cemetery. Active pallbearers are grandsons, Bart Herndon, Alan Tucker, Tim Freeman, Brian Shoup, Keith Allen, Bill Coram, Scott Scholefield and Mike Melton. Mrs. Freeman died Saturday, Oct. 2 in Blairsville after a brief illness. Born in Brooks County, she was the daughter of Franklin and Minnie Parrish McAllister. She was a retired cafeteria worker for the Brooks County schools and a member of Barwick Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Helen and Lester Allen of Barwick, Jackie and Rick Horton of Thomasville; a son, Jimmy and Joyce Freeman of Barwick; a daughter-in-law, Drucilla Freeman of Barwick; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Itara Yates of Tifton; one brother, W.F. McAllister of Tallahassee, Fla.; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack L. Freeman; a son, Joseph J.
