Margaret ‘Margie’ Brown Shiver

Funeral services for Margaret “Margie” Brown Shiver will be Monday, July 25, 2005, at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Darrell Owens will officiate. Mrs. Shiver died Friday, July 22, 2005, at John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital. A retired nurse, Mrs. Shiver was born September 15, 1941 in Thomas County, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Fed Brown and the late Rena Downs Brown. Mrs. Shiver married her husband, George Ralph Shiver, on March 2, 1980 in Folkston, Ga. He preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2002. Mrs. Shiver was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church on Cassidy Road. She was also a member of the Cairo Garden Club. She is survived by a son, Troy Franklin Barnard, of Ochlocknee, Ga.; daughters, Deborah K. Bass and Janet Grice Walker, both of Tallahassee, Fla.; step-sons, Channing Shiver, of Atlanta, Ga., and Andy Lancaster, of Thomasville, Ga.; sisters, Grace Payne, of Tallahassee, Fla., and Ellen B. Long, of Boston, Ga.; and 11 grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 24, 2005, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home. — Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home



Frederick Cole Gladstone

Funeral services for Frederick Cole Gladstone, 23, of Ft. Polk, La., will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2005, at Family Worship Center in Cairo, Ga. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery with full military honors. Pastor Johnny Moore will officiate. Gladstone died Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at Ft. Polk, La. Born Oct. 10, 1981, in Cairo, Ga., Gladstone was the son of Marilyn Nix Gladstone and the late Frederick James Gladstone. He was serving active duty in the United States Army. He is survived by his mother, Marilyn N. Gladstone, of Cairo, Ga.; brothers, James Colin Gladstone, of Huntsville, Ala., and Michael Cameron Gladstone, of Cairo, Ga.; paternal grandparents, Fred and Mattie Gladstone, of Darien, Ga.; and aunts and uncles, Cindy and James Spears and Bobby and Gayla Nix, all of Bainbridge, Ga., Johnny and Audry Nix and Mike and Lisa Nix, all of Cairo, Ga., Lee Nix, of Tampa, Fla., Mary and George Grazinger, of Spanish Wells, Bahamas, and David Gladstone, of Atlanta, Ga. — Clark Funeral Home



Tommie Eris Weaver Pound

Graveside services for Tommie Eris Weaver Pound, 79, of Bainbridge, Ga., will be at 2 p.m. July 24, 2005, at Pisgah Cemetery in Climax, Ga. The Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate. Ms. Pound died July 22, 2005, at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital. Ms. Pound was born in Decatur County and since her mother’s death, has resided at Memorial Manor in Bainbridge for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice Weaver. She is survived by numerous cousins. — Heritage Funeral Home
