Valerie Lynn Woods Aldredge

Services for Valerie Lynn Woods Aldredge, 47, Meigs are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at Kimbrell-Stern. The Rev. Richard Wilson will officiate and interment is in Crown Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Aldredge died May 11 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville. A native of Albany, Mrs. Aldredge has lived in Meigs for two years where she was a member of Meigs United Methodist Church. She was retired from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Survivors include her husband, John Aldredge; a son, John Hudson Aldredge; a daughter, Amber Nicole Aldredge all of Meigs; a sister, Jackie Holmes of Leeburg; parents, Jack and Betty Woods of Leesburg; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Aldredge of Meigs, James Aldredge and wife Judy of Meigs, Terry Aldredge and wife, Maria of Pelham; and several nieces and nephews. Sara Goldstein Blumberg

Services for Sara Goldstein Blumberg, Dothan, Ala., are at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at Temple Emanu-El with Rabbi Larry Mahrer officiating. Private graveside services will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Daniel Lifland, Benjamin Lifland, Jarrod Blumberg, Clem Shugerman, Leslie Blumberg, Larry Prisant and Herb Blumberg. Mrs. Blumberg died May 12 at Extendicare Hospice Service Facility. She was born May 22, 1914 in Thomasville and lived there the early years of her life. She married Harold Blumberg on Oct. 15, 1940 and moved to Dothan where she resided for the past 62 years. She was a homemaker and also served as a volunteer with the Gray Ladies of the American Red Cross. She was a lifelong member of Temple Emanu-El, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was active in Sisterhood and Hadassah where in both she served as an officer. She was a member of Scottie Fraisier Study Club, Dothan Fine Arts Club and the Cherokee Garden Club. Survivors include her daughter and a son-in-law, Helen and Dr. John Lifland of Bridgewater, N.J.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Laura Blumberg of Dothan, Richard and Susan Blumberg of Dothan; seven grandchildren, Daniel Lifland, Elizabeth Blumberg, Benjamin Lifland, Jarrod Blumberg, Adrian Blumberg, Melissa Blumberg and Hayden Blumberg; a sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Morris Feinberg of West Palm Beach, Fla.; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Herman Blumberg of Dothan, Mrs. Sam Blumberg of Dothan, Mrs. Joe Goldstein of Thomasville, Mrs. Harry Goldstein of Atlanta; several nieces and nephews; special caregivers include Millie Minnifield, Martha George, Ruth Smith, Betty Benton and Frances Johnson. Mrs. Blumberg was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Blumberg, in 1991; her brothers and sisters, Ann Zeff, Harry Goldstein, Joe Goldstein and Jane Prisant. Mrs. Blumberg will be placed in Temple Emanu-El one hour prior to the service. The family will be at the home of Richard Blumberg, 1123 Appian Way Circle in Dothan. — Byrd Funeral Home



Marie B. Sadler

Services for Marie B. Sadler, 61, Cairo, are at 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at Union Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Pelham. The Rev. W.J. Plymale and Elder Jasper Sadler will officiate and interment is in Union Hill Cemetery in Pelham. Active pallbearers are Arnold Dell, Bo Sweat, Chris Sadler, Michael Sadler, Bruce Sadler and Shelton Singletary. Honorary pallbearers are Russell Cooper, Junior Sadler, Ricky Watts, Tim Caratachea, Scott Martin, Robbie Sadler and Larry Sadler. Mrs. Sadler died May 13 at her residence. Born Sept. 18, 1940 in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Shirley and Ethel Whitsel Blackburn. She was married to Jimmy Sadler of Pelham on Dec. 4, 1957. She had lived most of her life in Grady County, a homemaker and a member of New Covenant Church in Cairo. Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Sadler; daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn Duga
