Oscar P. Mobley
Services for Oscar P. Mobley, Cairo, are at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2002 at Wilson Chapel M.B. Church where he was a member. The Rev. Dr. Simon Simmons will officiate and interment is in Crestview Cemetery. Active pallbearers are deacons of Wilson Chapel M.B. Church. Mr. Mobley died April 5 at Grady General Hospital. Born in Cairo, he was a son of the late Tommy and Alice Mobley. He was married to Ruden Evans, who preceded him in death, and later married Lora Reed. He attended Grady County public schools and was a self-employed plumber. Survivors include his sons, Livingston (Janice) Mobley of Thomasville, Oscar Bernard Mobley of Dublin; a brother, Tommy (Billie) Mobley of Silver Springs, Md.; sisters-in-law, Arethea Mobley of Long Beach, Calif., Thenia Mobley of Cairo, Nancy Mobley of Atlanta, Rosetta Kindred of Los Angeles, Calif.; brothers-in-law, J.R. Eddie Mack Mosley
Services for Eddie Mack Mosley, 46, 1712 N. Martin Luther King Drive, Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2002 at Glasgow AME Church, Glasgow Rd., Boston. The Rev. Tommy Horne and the Rev. T.C. Mitchell will officiate and interment is in Glasgow Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Morris McCaskill, Adam Cooney, David Sampson, Alonza Frazier, Willie Joe Mitchell and Levy Robinson. Mr. Mosley died April 8 at his residence. Born Sept. 6, 1955 in Boston, Thomas County, Ga., he was a son of the late Leroy Mosley and Minnie Ola Seabrooks Mosley. Mr. Mosley was a 1973 Thomasville High School graduate, attended Valdosta State University, member Mt. Herman M.B. Church and attended Bethel M.B. Church. He holds specialist degrees in brick masonry, data processing, drafting, computer and served in the U.S. Army. He had lived all his life in Thomas County and worked at Southwestern State Hospital until his disability. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ellis Mosley of Thomasville; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna (Bennie) Powell of Marietta; a granddaughter, Kiana Rankins of Marietta; his mother, Minnie Ola Mosley of Thomasville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnnie B. Mr. Prather died April 9 at Archbold Hospital. Born April 6, 1932 in Gordon, Ala., he was a son of the late Remes and Nancy Prather. He was married to Madie Davis on Jan. 7, 1962 in Thomasville. He was a farm worker, moved from Marianna, Fla. to Thomasville where he had lived for 45 years. Surivors include his wife, Madie Prather of Thomasville; a son, Phillip Prather Sr. of Thomasville; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Prather of Thomasville; granddaughter, Yetiva Prather of Thomasville; grandsons, Phillip Prather Jr. and Matthew Prather both of Thomasville; mother-in-law, Ethel Davis of Thomasville; brothers, Remes Prather (Viola), R.C. John Wesley Smith
Services for John Wesley Smith, 82, 1403 Providence Plaza Apt. 1403, Thomasville, are at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2002 at Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 1559 Pope Rd., Boston. The Rev. Leonard Spears, pastor officiating, and interment is in Hardshell Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Daniel Smallwood, Ronald McCray, Paul McIntyre, Rosco Smith, Floyd Daniel, Benjamin Smallwood and Lamar Wyche. Mr. Smith died April 3 at his residence. Born Dec. 23, 1919, in Thomas County, he was a son of the late Sonny and Susie Smith. He was married to the late Viola Johnson. A mechanic laborer, he lived 82 years in Thomas County, Boston and Thomasville. He was a member of Cedar Hill Missionary Baptist Church and attended Aucilla School. Services for Virginia Reynolds Stacey, 66, 202 S. College St., Thomasville, are at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2002 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member. The Rev. Curnell Henry will officiate and interment is in Peaceful Rest Cemetery. Active pallbearers are friends of the family. Mrs. Stacey died April 9 at Tallahassee Community Hospital. Born Dec. 18, 1935 in Thomasville, she was a daughter of the late Mattie and J.B. Reynolds. She had lived for 60 years in Thomasville, retired from Georgia Crate and Basket Co., member of Pastors Aide Club and attended Douglass High School . Survivors include her sons, Anthony Reynolds of Atlanta, Gregory Stacey of Honolulu, Hawaii; granddaughter, Alisha Reynolds of Thomasville; grandson, Jonathan Stacey of Honolulu; and granddaughter, Mina Stacey of Honolulu. Born June 18, 1951 in Camilla, he was a son of Bernice Keaton Thomas and the late Mancy Thomas. He was married to Valencia Howell Thomas, who survives. He was retired from the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant and earned a Vietnam Campaign medal W/60 device, Vietnam Service Medal W/1 Bronze. He was a truck driver, member St. Paul M.B. Church in Whigham, a 1969 graduate of Washington Consolidated High School and 1992 graduate of Thomas Tech. Survivors include his wife, Valencia Thomas of Rex; a son, William O’Neal Thomas Jr. of Rex; a daughter, Sade Jones of Cairo; his mother, Bernice Thomas of Miami, Fla.; sisters, Ethel K. Norwood of Miami, Sandra J.
