Mozella M. Pickett
Services for Mozella M. Pickett, 76, Boston, are at 2 p.m., Friday, April 16, 2004 at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Boston. The Rev. Anthony Quinn Choice, pastor St. James CME Church, will officiate and interment is in Boston Cemetery. Active pallbearers are nephews. Mrs. Pickett died April 12 in Quitman. Born in Thomas County, she was a daughter of the late Elyard and Carrie Pickett. She attended Thomas County schools and Paine College in Augusta. She was a member of St. James CME Church in Boston where she was church treasurer and on the Missionary Board. Survivors include a sister, Mary Johnson of Boston; brother-in-law, Gilbert Johnson Sr. of Boston; nieces, Teresa Johnson of Lumberton, N.C., Cassandra Christian of Boston; nephews, Gilbert Johnson Jr., William Johnson both of Boston; nieces, Gail Johnson of Del Rae, Fla., Beverly Conyers of Columbia, S.C.; cousin, Mattie Merritt of Jacksonville, Fla.; several great-nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. The viewing is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The viewing Friday is from noon until the funeral hour with no viewing after the eulogy at the church. Sally L. Meeks Sweeting
Graveside services for Sally L. Meeks Sweeting, 77, Miami, Fla., are at noon, Friday, April 16, 2004 at Peaceful Rest Cemetery. The Rev. Estell Arrington will officiate. Active pallbearers are friends of the family. Mrs. Sweeting died April 7 at South Miami Hospital in Miami. Born Nov. 7, 1926 in Thomasville, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Emmie Meeks. She was married to John Nathaniel Sweeting, who preceded her in death, in Miami. She attended Douglass High School and was retired from Winston Park Elementary School in environmental service for public schools. A member of Bethel Full Gospel Baptist Church in Miami, Fla., she served in the Mass Choir of Bethel, the Missionary Society and the Senior Saints Ministry. Survivors include a sister, Dorothy C. Meeks of Miami; brother, Jonas Meeks of Thomasville; daughter, Jacquelyn Hall-Saunders of Miami; sons, Bobbie J. Meeks, Kenneth Sherman, Nathaniel Sweeting Sr., Andre Sweeting Sr. both of Miami; nephew, Larry Williams of Miami; daughters-in-law, Gail Meeks, Joann Sweeting, Marcella Sweeting all of Miami; grandchildren, Johnny Hall Jr. (Nora), Kenneth G. Sherman (Chera), Ahnjayla Patterson (Todd), Contessa S. Bryant (Andrew), Andre Sweeting Jr. (Laria), Nathaniel Sweeting Jr., John Sweeting, Mallie Brown (Marcus), Jason Sweeting, Marcella Sweeting, Salena Meeks and Danielle Davis; special cousins, Samuel Wilson Jr. (Carrie), Benjamin Hatcher (Eddie Mae); 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of godchildren, cousins and friends.
