THOMASVILLE — The city of Thomasville is garnering more recognition in the television media.
Turner South, a station dedicated to showcasing the people and life in the South, will feature a segment about Thomasville on its original show “3 Day Weekend.” A half-hour program, it is hosted by Erin Haney, a native of Lawrenceville and Miss Georgia USA 2003.
Thomasville was profiled recently on CBS’ “Early Show.”
“3 Day Weekend” takes Haney and one lucky couple on a great escapes trip in the South each week. Every show features a different destination.
The channel’s Web site provides lodging, dining and attractions information on each place visited.
For the Thomasville episode, Haney takes the couple and viewers to plantation homes, a historically rich church with a connection to the First Lady and antique shopping downtown. The show also features a practice round with clay pigeons.
The episode is set to air Thursday at 10:30 p.m. Sites of interest listed on the Web site include Melhana the Grand Plantation, Pebble Hill Plantation, Toscoga Marketplace, the Big Oak, All Saints Episcopal Church, the Lapham-Patterson House, Arrowhead Farms, Myrtlewood Hunting Plantation, Back Street Bakery Cafe and Antique Shop, and the Market Diner Restaurant.
