THOMASVILLE —
For those wanting to get a head start on voting in the March 6 Presidential Preference election, early voting begins Monday.
Early votes may be cast from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until Friday, March 2, at the voter registration office at the Thomas County Judicial Center, 325 N. Madison St.
Photo identification is required of voters.
“We’ll have one Saturday of voting in there,” said Phillip Henry, Thomas County elections supervisor.
Saturday voting is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 25 at the voter registration office.
Early voting previously was for 45 days. The state reduced the number of early voting days by 21 days and added a mandatory Saturday voting date when state or federal candidates are on the ballot.
Thomas County voters will cast ballots for their choice of a U.S. presidential Republican or Democratic party nominee.
The electorate also will decide a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax question. The current 1 percent SPLOST expires Dec. 31.
See Sunday's edition for more details.
