BARWICK —
A Vienna man died in an early morning wreck at the intersection of two Thomas County bypasses.
Two others are in critical condition at Archbold Memorial Hospital.
Lanier Ernest Hughes, 80, 1010 E. 18th Ave., Cordele, was driving a Chevrolet Impala west on the north bypass about 7:40 a.m. Tuesday and attempted a left turn onto the 319 bypass.
The Impala turned into the path of a Chevrolet 2500 pickup driven by Michal Cole Tonkin, 29, 785 Maddox Road, Ochlocknee.
“The pickup struck the Impala on the passenger-side door,” said Sgt. First Class Tommy Peeples, Thomasville Post 12 Georgia State Patrol commander.
Lonnie Dunbar, 71, 306 E. Union St., Vienna, a passenger in the Impala, was killed.
Carla Dunbar, 81, of the same Vienna address, and Hughes are in critical condition.
Tonkin and a four-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries.
No charges were filed.
