First Missionary Baptist Church elects successor to Mullins

THOMASVILLE — After 51 years, First Missionary Baptist Church installed a new pastor to serve as the leader of its congregation.

The Rev. Jeremy G. Rich was formally installed at First Missionary Baptist Church on  Jan. 13 at 3 p.m.

Rich is a native of Milton, Fla. He is the youngest of four children and the only son born to Gus and Pauletta H. Rich. He is a 2000 graduate of Milton High School, where he served in many leadership capacities, including student body president and president of the Future Business Leaders of America.

Additionally, he is a 2005 graduate of Florida A&M University, where he majored in political science with a minor of secondary education. In addition to being the senior pastor at First Missionary Baptist Church, he is also an educator at Bishop Hall Charter School.

His areas of interest include liberation theology, honoring the traditions of the historic church, its practices, and its presence in the community; while serving our communities in a contemporary context and fostering intergenerational involvement in an ecumenical environment.
