Colquitt burglary suspects captured at gunpoint here

— Three Colquitt County burglary suspects are in custody in Moultrie after being captured Monday morning in Thomas County near Coolidge.

At 9:35 a.m. Monday, Thomas County dispatch was alerted by Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office deputies about burglary suspects being followed by the victim and headed for Thomas County on U.S. 319 North.

“The victim lost them around Coolidge,” said Capt. Steven Jones, Thomas County Sheriff‘s Office public information officer.

Sheriff’s office Sgt. Mike Dean saw the suspects’ car southbound on 319 South and followed the vehicle a short distance until backup arrived.

Thomasville Post 12 Georgia State Patrol troopers and deputies performed a felony stop on the vehicle in the 17000 block of 319 south of Coolidge.

Three suspects were taken into custody at gunpoint.

“Several firearms and other items taken in the burglary were recovered from the vehicle,” Jones said.

The victim identified the suspects and the vehicle.

The suspects are from Florida. The four-door, dark-green Mercury in which they were traveling is registered in Florida.

The suspects were turned over to the Colquitt County Sheriff's Office.
