THOMASVILLE —
A bail bondsman was released on his own recognizance after being charged with two counts of theft by deception.
Michael “Mike” Lamar Oliver, 41, 258 Skyline Drive, is charged with receiving fines from two people before the individuals’ cases were heard in court.
On May 16, 2012, a Thomasville police officer spoke with a man who said he was in Thomasville Municipal Court on that date to answer a charge of driving while unlicensed.
“He received the citation on March 30, 2012,” said Lt. Eric Hampton, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.
The 24-year-old Thomasville man was found guilty in Municipal Court and was told by Judge Mark Mitchell the fine was $500.
“The victim advised the judge through a translator that he had already paid the $500 to a bail bondsman he identified as Mike Oliver,” Hampton explained.
