THOMASVILLE —
A 42-year-old Thomasville woman is charged with theft and violations of the Racketeering Influence and Corrupt Organization Act (RICO).
Alishia Nicole Williams, 313 Grove Pointe Drive, was arrested as a result of a yearlong investigation by the Thomasville office of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Georgia Attorney General’s office.
The investigation by GBI agents revealed that during the course of a year in 2009, Williams fraudulently claimed more than $20,000 in state funds in overtime payments at the Bainbridge Probation and Substance Abuse Treatment Center in Bainbridge, Steve Turner, special agent in charge of the Thomasville GBI office, said Thursday.
Williams was employed as director of nurses at the Bainbridge facility.
Williams fraudulently submitted the time sheets claiming overtime to state payroll officials in Augusta, resulting in an indictment by a Richmond County Grand Jury, Turner said.
Williams, accompanied by her attorney, was allowed to turn herself in at the Richmond County Jail in Augusta.
The investigation of the case continues by the Thomasville GBI office.
