THOMASVILLE —
A former Meigs police officer has been indicted on a statutory rape charge made in 2011.
Brandon Matthew Luckey was indicted by a Thomas County grand jury in a case involving a 13-year-old girl.
Luckey was fired from his Meigs Police Department job when the alleged incident occurred in September 2011.
The girl was reported missing from her residence on a Saturday afternoon. Thomas and Mitchell County sheriffs' offices were notified.
The last person she was with was Luckey, a Thomas County Sheriff's Office investigator said in September. The girl was found at the officer's Meigs residence.
The Meigs Police Department asked the sheriff's office and Thomasville regional office of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to look into what appeared to be interference with custody.
The situation developed into statutory rape, Steve Turner, special agent in charge of the regional GBI office, said last year.
