THOMASVILLE — A 33-year-old Ochlocknee man charged with stealing an English bulldog in October has been indicted by a Thomas County grand jury.
Tony Lee Davis, 385 Beaver Hill, Ochlocknee, was charged with felony theft by taking of Bubba, a white English bulldog on Saturday, Oct. 1, from a South Madison Street facility.
Indictments were returned on:
• Burglary
• Aggravated stalking
• Simple battery
• Two counts theft by taking
• Removal of identification items on animals
• Cruelty to animals
• Obstruction of an officer
The dog was being boarded overnight by his owners, Atlanta residents Teresa and Jack McMillan, who were in Thomasville visiting relatives.
A communitywide search for the dog began immediately. The McMillans offered a $10,000 reward for Bubba's safe return.
Mrs. McMillan remained in Thomasville and looked for her dog, assisted by a number of local residents and agencies.
The dog’s body was never recovered.
Davis is charged with a second count of felony theft by taking in connection with a computer taken from the boarding business the same night the dog was stolen.
Davis also is charged with burglarizing a Thomasville residence, where a woman arrived at her Town Court residence and saw the suspect standing in her front yard. The woman knew Davis.
