THOMASVILLE —
The Boys & Girls Club of Cairo-Grady County and Boys & Girls Clubs of America have confirmed the appearances of esteemed celebrity guests as preparations are under way to host one of the local club’s most highly anticipated fundraising events of the year.
“A Diamond Affair,” a two-day event set for Friday and Saturday, will welcome more than 300 guests and honor hometown hero and Baseball Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson, who broke Baseball’s color barrier.
The guests of honor include Sharon Robinson, daughter of Jackie Robinson and educational programming consultant for Major League Baseball ; Evander Holyfield, world champion boxer; Teresa Edwards, five-time Olympic basketball gold medalist; Willie Harris, MLB utility player; Earnest Riles, Cairo native and former MLB infielder; Roosevelt Jackson, oldest living member of the Negro League; William Thomas Stanfill, former defensive end for the Miami Dolphins; and Myron Guyton, former defensive back for the New York Giants and the New England Patriots.
